Dubai Marina and JBR are places where everyone will find something for themselves. Starting from water sports, through fun in the water park and splashing in the water, to sunbathing, walking among luxury yachts, and tasting all the cuisines of the world. It is a perfect place both for a romantic getaway for two and as a destination for family holidays. Below you will find the most interesting attractions of this part of Dubai. Have fun!

Where is Dubai Marina and JBR?

Dubai Marina and JBR is a hotel and apartment district located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is primarily known for its recreational complex with open-air restaurants and a large sandy beach. The waterfront promenade is full of cafes, and on the Dubai Marina Walk you can spend a pleasant evening in a fantastic restaurant and enjoy cuisine from all over the world. In the meantime, you can go shopping at the Dubai Marina Mall, which offers many chain and luxury fashion brands.

Dubai Marina

Dubai Marina is undoubtedly one of the most enjoyable places in Dubai. It is a district built around an artificial canal in which luxury yachts are moored. Around the Marina, there are a lot of glass skyscrapers with thousands of apartments, but also numerous hotels or apartments purchased either for rent or by foreigners living and working in Dubai. The height of the buildings on both sides of the canal is different, but one thing is certain – together they create a total city landscape. This is a perfect place to spend holidays and everyday life. There is a 7 km long promenade around the marina, where you can meet joggers in the morning and in the evening. For tourists, it is a great walking area – here you can really walk along a comfortable promenade, where you will find various pubs, cafes, but also (hidden from the sun under bridges) playgrounds. It is a great place for both parents and children.

It is a great place for children for one more reason. It is completely cut off from city traffic. There are no intersections nor pedestrian crossings. Children can run safely away from the streets and cars, and when they do not want to go, there is always a chance to convince them with another playground, trampolines hidden on the squares, or a smoothie bought at a nearby stall. For adults, it is a wonderful place to relax and detach from the noise of the city. The entire marina is situated below the main thoroughfares of the district and is additionally separated by the surrounding skyscrapers.

The Dubai Marina design was inspired by the Concord Pacific Place which is located along False Creek in Vancouver, Canada. Next to Marina del Rey in California (USA), it is one of the largest man-made and entirely man-made marinas in the world. Dubai Marina buildings are built around a man-made canal that flows out of and into the Persian Gulf.

Masjid Al Rahim and Marina Mosques

There are two mosques in Marina: Masjid Al Rahim Mosque and Marina Mosque. Masjid Al Rahim Mosque was opened at the end of 2013. It is located in the southern part of Dubai Marina right at the exit to the Persian Gulf whereas Marina Mosque is exactly on the other side of the Marina.

Dubai Marina Mall

Dubai Marina Mall is a shopping mall located in the middle of Dubai Marina, opened in late 2008. It is one of the largest shopping malls in Dubai. It houses about 140 stores, so there is something to do when the heat outside is unbearable.

Cruise around Dubai Marina and around Palma Jumeirah

As you stroll around Dubai Marina (from the Dubai Mall side) you will come across many companies offering cruises around Dubai Marina, the Persian Gulf, up to a cruise around Palma Jumeirah overlooking the Atlantis Hotel. Which cruise to choose and with which company? It depends on what you expect from such a trip. It’s best to just take a walk along the promenade in Marina and ask about the possibilities and prices! There is also a ferry terminal. It’s worth taking your time and choose the best option for you. The proposed cruises differ in boats, cruise length, route and, of course, the price. The cruise departs from Dubai Marina. You will sail towards the Al Rahim Mosque. There the marina turns right towards the beach. Then you will sail on the waters of the Persian Gulf and head towards the famous Palma Jumeirah. When you leave the marina, you will surely notice a tall building with a “hole in the middle”. This is Address Beach Resort and it has an amazing rooftop pool with stunning views of Marina Beach and the surrounding area.

Beach at JBR

The beach at JBR is 1.7 km of beautiful sandy beach, where you can spend time sunbathing or actively practicing water sports. There are also attractions for children in the form of one of the largest (if not the largest) inflatable park in the world. Among the water games, you can choose from activities such as parasailing, wakeboarding and water banana swimming. If you prefer a less active vacation, you can rent a sun lounger all day long or take a leisurely camel ride on the beach. Here, however, you need to be vigilant, because the camel does not sit on the beach all day and does not wait for a photo and a ride.

AquaFun is the largest (supposedly) inflatable water park in the world. It has the longest and tallest water slides, 2,700 square meters, and 74 colorful attractions that you can climb, jump and slide all day long. Although it is difficult to see it from the ground, the floating park forms the word “Dubai”. AquaFun offers entertainment for both children and adults.

The Walk at Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) is a popular promenade where you can shop, eat and stroll along the seafront. On the bustling beachfront boulevard, you’ll find plenty of shopping opportunities thanks to an array of shops and boutiques selling clothing, home décor and handicrafts.

Dubai Eye

On Bluewater Island, you can admire the Dubai Eye (now officially called Ain Dubai), the great Ferris wheel. Ain Dubai, located on Bluewaters Island, is another record-breaking Dubai venture. The Ferris wheel, accessible from the island, is adjacent to shopping centers, restaurants, residential buildings and a market. The giant Ferris wheel itself, with an impressive height of 210 m, is the tallest structure of its kind in the world. Ain Dubai allows you to admire the beautiful Dubai coastline and impressive marina panorama, as well as the city’s most famous tourist attractions such as Burj Al Arab, Palma Jumeirah and Burj Khalifa. The entire Ain Dubai ride takes about 45 minutes. The view is amazing.
